Strategies to Reduce Alcohol Consumption:
Alcohol does have bad effects, but here are some tips to help reduce the amount
of alcohol you drink, and still allow you to enjoy it. These will help keep
the good effects of alcohol, as too much alcohol will start leading into worse
effects happening to your body.
One neat way of keeping your alcohol consumption low, is by just drinking at a slow pace. Taking a few sips every now and then won't hurt you or your body, unlike gulping down a bottle every few minutes. This will also help if you have an alternate drink as well, for when you're still thirsty and you want to resist having a bit too much alcohol. Water would be the best alternate drink to have, but you can feel free to have other things if you want, only if it doesn't contain any alcohol. Another strategy you can use for when at a party and there is a supply of alcohol, is after taking a drink, place yourself away from the supplier, to help resist the urge of another drink. Also drink a lot of water or eat before you drink, as a full stomach will most likely help decrease the intake of alcohol after.
Start drinking at a later time to reduce the amount of alcohol you will consume before you sleep. When people ask you to have a drink with them, or for another one, you should probably say no, as it will resist the urge of drinking more. Drink when you aren't hungry or thirsty, and if you are, use the alternate drink said before, as drinking alcohol when you are thirsty will cause a heavier intake. If you are tempted for a drink, you can also use your surroundings as a way to distract yourself. Looking for a show to watch on the TV or play a game with your mates.
When wanting to drink safe, remember that you should also stay in the limit. Women should drink two standard drinks a day, and three to four standard drinks for men. Therefore, before going out, you should set a limit or a goal for yourself to accomplish. A better alcoholic drink to have would be beer, as there is a lower percentage of alcohol than other drinks such as wine, and especially spirits.
Altogether, these tips and strategies will hopefully help you drink less and stay safe. Just remember that when drinking always have an alternate drink, don't drink when thirsty, drink slowly and during time, and position yourself away from the drink supplier if at a party or a bar. Stay under your limit, set a goal, and enjoy yourself.
